About the Author
Dr. Clella Jaffe was the Communication Department Chair at George Fox University, Newberg, Oregon (recently retired). In addition to teaching communication courses at George Fox, she has taught at St. John's University (Queens) and Oregon State. For many years, she also taught oral interpretation of literature and coached and judged forensics competitions. Dr. Jaffe received her B.A. from Seattle Pacific University, earned her M.Ed. and Ph.D. from Oregon State University, and completed additional graduate work at the University of Washington.

Easy to read; A Good book for Reference for any type of speech!

I like this book because it gives clear and exact instructions, tips, and examples for many different types of speeches such as informative(research based), eulogies, persuasive speeches. etc.
I would recommend this book to anyone who is taking a public speaking course. I have found it to be a useful study guide for me in this class that I'm taking now.

Simple and well written

I bought this book used, so I cannot say anything about how good the online service is.
The book though is nice; it was very easy to read. It doesn't get too far into esoteric theories of communication that I don't care about. It mainly focuses on actual public speaking, from addressing anxiety to writing/delivering a speech.

I've used many exercise books and have found this one to be excellent. It is more than just an exercise book; it's also a grammar. It covers topics in French grammar thoroughly and methodically, explaining each clearly and offering very comprehensive exercises. The accompanying "Corriges des Exercises" allows you to check your answers and to determine your progress on your own. If you're looking for a second book (as a native English speaker), "Difficultes Expliques du Francais (For English Speakers) is also very good,if not quite as comprehensive, and also includes a corrections guide.

3.75 stars---DARE TO SEDUCE is the eight installment and latest novella in Carly Phillips contemporary adult DARE TO LOVE erotic romance series focusing on the Dare cousins and siblings. This is Lucy Dare –one of the New York Dare cousins, and professional chef and restaurateur Max Savage’s storyline. DARE TO SEDUCE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. We were first introduced to the Dare cousins in Dare To Surrender (Dare to Love #3)-the July 2014 installment in the multi-authored 1001 Dark Nights novella series- and Dare to Submit (Dare to Love #4).

Told from dual third person perspectives (Lucy and Max) DARE TO SEDUCE is a friends to lovers/second chance storyline that focuses on the building relationship between Lucy and Max. Max has always loved Lucy, but growing up neighbors and best friends with Lucy’s brothers there was always an understood hands-off policy between Lucy and Max. But years passed, lives changed, losses and other relationships carried forward until present day where Lucy and Max found themselves together at Decklan Dare’s engagement party to Amanda Collins (Dare to Love #4), wherein Lucy’s current boyfriend found himself on the outside looking in when Max and Lucy rekindled their long fought urges and need for one another. What ensues is the building relationship between Lucy and Max, and Lucy’s need to push Max away at every available opportunity.

DARE TO SEDUCE is an erotic storyline; a tale about two people who have loved one another but never took a chance on a happily ever after. Lucy had already lost too many people in her life, and wasn’t willing to risk her heart for fear of losing the only man she has ever loved. Max is a man whose childhood left our hero longing for a relationship with a woman he could love but Lucy kept Max at arm’s length as their relationship began to grow. Saying that, I felt the love between Lucy and Max was more one-sided –Lucy’s inability to let go of the past pushed everyone (including family and friends) to the periphery of her relationship needs. The $ex scenes are erotic and intense. Max likes to dominate both in and out of the bedroom.

The secondary and supporting characters include Lucy’s brothers and their respective mates: Gabe and Isabelle; Decklan and Amanda. We are also introduced to Max’s new business partner and executive chef Sebastian Del Toro; as well as Max’s parents who want to rekindle their relationship with their only son.

DARE TO SEDUCE is a quick and enjoyable read that takes the reader into the world of the ‘other’ Dare family: the cousins to the original Dare to Love series family; and the Dare’s who are members of an elite BDSM club and the Club Eden hotel and nightclub chain. The premise is entertaining; the characters have a history together therefore the build up to love is quick but not necessarily easy; the happily ever after fast forwards the storyline one year wherein Lucy and Max are in need of an extended vacation and some time away. Carly Phillips DARE TO LOVE series is a delight-no matter which side of the family you’re on !!

Max and Lucy will really have you turning those pages to find out what happens. Lucy has totally closed off her heart. She has been in love with Max since they were next door neighbors and she was a kid. When he went and got married he broke her heart. She wouldn't even go to their wedding. He never knew the feelings she had for him. To protect her heart from any kind of hurt she moved clear across the country. She was fine until she came home with her boyfriend for her brothers wedding. There she encountered Max and her life was changed.

Max was best friends with both of Lucy's brothers. He lived next door to them growing up and Lucy was always their bratty little sister. Then she came home from college and he realized she wasn't so little any more and he developed feelings for her. But he knew about that unspoken code of never dating your best friends sister. That made her off limits. So he pushed on never revealing his feelings for her to anyone. During their time apart his wife had passed away and he lived life one day at a time....never getting serious with anyone. Then he saw Lucy at her brothers wedding and his life was changed.

Dare to Seduce tells us the tale of their mostly rocky road to happiness. Here we have two people who love each other but have walls so high and so thick around their hearts it will really take time and work to break them down. Only Carly Phillips can tell their story as well as she has. She can make you feel all the pain and frustration they are going through and then make you cheer when things work out.

Never hesitate to read a book by Carly Phillips as she will definitely keep you turning those pages until you reach their happily ever after.

Overall another great addition to the Dare series!

I just adore Carly Phillips' Dare series. Ian and Gabe have been my favorites. Well, I think Max Savage is giving them a run for their money! His name alone exudes sex!

Max has longed for little Lucy Dare ever since she had come home from college. Unfortunately, Max figured Lucy's brothers, Gabe and Decklan would have a huge problem with him wanting to be with Lucy so he never pursued anything. Over the next few years, Lucy moved to California for work, while Max ended up marrying Cindy, who was killed in a car accident 4 years later. Neither of them were very happy. Now that Lucy is back in town for Decklan's wedding, Max finally gets her brother's blessing and he decides to make his move. He doesn't care if she brought some guy with her from California.

I loved the way Max kept working on Lucy to convince her that he really had feelings for her and wasn't just looking for sex. I just adored how sweet and thoughtful he was, while at the same time being a typical cocky, alpha male! Their time on the island of Eden was wonderful and sexy...really sexy! ;)

I enjoyed how they worked together to open up a new restaurant Savage in Soho (great name), and really enjoyed the character of Sabastian, the chef he hired. He was a hoot! Too bad he isn't a Dare...I bet he'd have a great story!

Overall another great addition to the Dare series!

Not merely a read, it is an attunement, an ordination into the Divine Feminine

I haven't yet finished reading The Gospel of Sophia, not because it is not holding my interest, but because this book is meant to be SAVORED! Tyla Gabriel has done a fantastic job of presenting in Encyclopedic fashion the critical importance of the Divine Feminine in all her forms. This book is not just a lesson in the Divine Feminine, it is an attunement - and ordination. As I have been reading the book, I am being transformed. EMPOWERMENT, specifically, FEMININE EMPOWERMENT is the gift that comes in being open to the spirit of Tyla's words. Miracles have been happening in my life since encountering The Gospel of Sophia and I imagine they will for you as well. Please get this book and savor it drop by drop by drop as you enjoy the Divine love you will receive while enjoying its nourishment.

By far the most insightful book I have ever read!

For years I have sought a deeper level of personal spiritual development. I have studied the religions of the world from mainstream to alternative and I have found both truth and misunderstanding in all of them. As such I have spent years practicing deep meditation and this book closely matches the visions and insights I have gained through my own studies and experiences. Most notably this books explains the universal connections between different faiths and cultures. This is very important to me because the one thing that I find the most truthful is that there is a God and Goddess present in everything. This book explains those connections and is relevant to everyone regardless of their personal belief system.

Paradigm Shift for the Divine

Is there a feminine face to God? Tyla Gabriel’s work The Gospel of Sophia, Volume 1, hypothesizes twelve such faces, such as Wisdom, Beauty, Love, and Queen of Heaven. Gabriel hopes at least one of her twelve faces rings true for you.

Written in a style of story, philosophy, poetry, and headline, this work is daunting in its depth and breadth. Our current concept of male Trinity has been broken since the filioque controversy split Christendom into East and West in 1054. Gabriel’s improved image of God is sevenfold: two Trinities, male and female, with an assumed unifying principle beyond both. Mother. Father. Something greater. I found moving passages here, fresh depictions of Christ and Mary, Adam and Eve. Gabriel’s recurring motif—wise people love, and those who see the Divine Sophia love with a greater light—is accessible to all.

No friend of cold Modern Science, Gabriel radiates for the Divine Feminine. But for those not already in the choir, her ardor and esotericism may distance. I did disagree on issues most readers will find trivial: the elevation of the angelic Dominions over the Seraphim; a certain deafness to classical accounts that Helen voluntarily ran off with Paris to Troy. But the chief obstacle to absorbing Gabriel’s work is its lack of citation.
Gabriel’s findings, although inspiring, are not in a form one can easily test, despite the extensive bibliography. At some point you feel you should put the book down and look for Wisdom yourself. Yet Gabriel’s innovative hypothesis, that God is a feminine and masculine dual Trinity, is worth testing, even if we must design such tests ourselves.
Reading Sophia, I was reminded of Thomas Kuhn’s The Structure of Scientific Revolutions, the classic work on paradigm shifts. Like Priestly and Lavoisier, who separately stumbled across oxygen but initially did not recognize as element what they had found, Gabriel’s book is like finding oxygen. What paradigm best describes her discovery, none initially may know. But theology will not be the same.
