About the Author
Thomas J. Hickey is the Dean of the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences and a Professor of Government at the State University of New York (SUNY Cobleskill). He received his bachelor’s degree from Providence College, M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from Sam Houston State University, and a law degree from the University of Oregon, School of Law. His areas of expertise include criminology and law and he is the author of two books, Criminal Procedure (McGraw-Hill, Inc., 2001, 1998) and Taking Sides: Clashing Views in Criminal Justice (McGraw-Hill, 2007) as well as many journal articles. He is a licensed attorney as well who specializes in the areas of labor law and tort litigation.

I purchased two of these used text books for my daughter and her friend. They are unable to bring the books home from middle school. It was 1/5 of the cost of a new text book. The books were in perfect condition. My daughter's a happy camper and so am I with the cost.

Book content is good but it is in black and white

The book content is good.

But, beware! This book is not in printed in color! The online preview suggests the book is printed in color. But it is not. The paper version is printed in gray scale. Of particular concern are the diagrams for four projects. The text does not even mention the actual color of the parts. Also, the screenshots of the EV3 brick LCD are almost illegible.

I'm giving the book one star because the Amazon description does not mention that the book is not in color. I find this deceptive.

Good Book but only BLACK AND WHITE, not color as shown on webpage

I purchased this book for my grandson who is ill. When I looked at the sample pages on the website the illustrations were shown in full color. However, when my grandson started reading the book, it was all in black and white.

I rated it 3-stars because the information is good and well presented.

I am very disappointed in Amazon that they would not only mislead potential buyers on what they are going to get, but they also ignored a review from almost a month ago pointing out this misleading webpage.

Pretty fundamental stuff.

If you have very little common sense, or fall to tears when you think of organizing a garage, then this book is for you. Get a chiltons or hayes for your bike, put your tools where you want them.

The author does give a good reality check on the prospects of profitability of restoring bikes (hint- there is none)
but if you've got a passion, you will anyway.

Great Book for Any MC Owner

I have Zimmerman's other MC Repair book, which I found very useful -- and when I had a question, I contacted him by e-mail as he invites readers to do, and he responded with great advice, and followed-up to see how the advice worked! I bought this book because I'd seen it and liked it's all around coverage of restoring older MC's. Since I usually buy used, I'm often in some limited restoratioin mode, and this book will prove very useful.

Helpful for the novice

If you are new to restoration or just looking for more information this book is fairly helpful. It will guide you through what sort of bike to purchase, pros and cons of each type, certain repairs, and the like. Mainly it will act as a tool to lead you to other tools during the restoration process (i.e. places to look for parts, ups/downs of certain repairs, ideas for your restore). It will get your gears turning and give some direction for the process from someone who has already been down that rocky road.
